The Bachelor in nursing degree programs are typically spread over 4 years. The first year establishes the foundation for the study of nursing with related basic medical knowledge. There is also an introduction to concepts and theories related to understanding nursing practice. In the second yearc linical study is introduced with a focus on health promotion, and the identification of risk factors. Clinical nursing skills are practiced first in the School's skills laboratory. Nursing courses in the third year focus on the care of individuals and families of all ages who are experiencing the stress of illness. Clinical experiences take place in general wards, intensive care units, and acute care settings. During the fourth (final) year, clinical experiences take place in hospitals. Clinical practica are planned to encourage consolidation of knowledge gained in preceding years and focus on individuals and families. Students will provide care to those experiencing more complex illnesses and problems. Throughout the program, students will have an opportunity to work on research projects.
